Ayurvedic Abhyanga Massage

Enjoy the Ayurvedic Massage known as Abhyanga. This oil massage is designed by your practitioner to aid in bringing your Body into more Balance through the use of specific oils and Herbs.

**You must complete an Ayurvedic Intake Form prior to receiving Abyangha.**

Common oils used are Sesame oil, Almond oil, and Coconut Oil, as well as Ayurvedic herb blends!

While there are numerous benefits to receiving Abyangha, it is very important to complete my Ayurvedic Intake form prior to receiving this ancient treatment as there are a few contraindications. Most of the time, we will need to simply have you add a few diet and lifestyle adjustments before your body will be able to fully receive Abhyanga.

Abhyanga is a full body, rhythmic, detox & rejuvenation massage using warmed herbal oils specific to the client's constitution or imbalances. Abhyanga is received unclothed on a heated table in a warm room with a large amount of warmed oil. The oil is chosen specifically by your practitioner to aid in bringing balance to your body, mind, and spirit as it is absorbed into your body.

Champi, or head massage with oil, is also an integral part of receiving Abhyanga. You will need to bring a head covering, like a cotton beanie, to cover your head for your trip home. It is advised that you wear clothing that you do not mind if it may become oily.

Just a few of the benefits of Abhyanga, but not limited to these are: better sleep, movement of stagnant lymph, reduction of “heaviness,” reduction of the feeling of being ungrounded, induced deep relaxation and all the benefits of that state, a removal of toxins, and so much more!

Personally, this may be my favorite form of bodywork to receive. I am always left feeling more “me” after. Our lives are so full these days, and we are pulled in many directions. Consider Abhyanga as a tool for maintaining balance in all aspects of your life!

Shirodhara

Ayurvedic bodywork

Shirodhara

Shirodhara or “head stream” from the Sanskrit language, is warm oil poured from a beautiful Shirodhara pot over specific points on the head and scalp. As with Abyangha, the oil(s) used may have herbs as chosen by the practitioner for the desired focus.

Shirodhara is extremely relaxing for the nervous system and is a powerful treatment for reducing the effects of excess Vata, or Ether and Air elements, in the body and mind. Ideally, Shirdohara is received three times within 1 to 2 weeks of each appointment. Subsequent sessions can be accessed after the initial treatments. As always in Ayurveda, this is tailored to your needs!

Shirodhara is received lying on a warm table, similar to Abhyanga. Warm oil is poured consistently for 20-25 minutes over the forehead and scalp. Your session. will end with a head and neck massage as well. The oil is collected and with proper care, is reused up to 3-4 times. At this time, the storage and care of the oil will be given to the client with all instructions. It is best to receive all Ayurvedic bodywork on a day that you will be able to simply rest. No solid food should be taken for 2 hours prior to receiving your treatments! All instructions will be included upon scheduling.
